Memories of Alan Boy...
The first day we ever met, you was about about 3 yrs old at the condo in Wailuku
You sat down next to me and your brother climbed up on my lap.
Alan Boy, this was the first day you called me aunty and your kolohe smile stole my heart.
And then when I would babysit you guys And you liked to jump out and yell HiYa Aunty at me all the time with your pretend sword🗡 drove me crazy but made me protective...
one of my favorites was when I worked at Sprint in the mall, you would stop by and we would go outside and sit at the tables and talk story for a minute or 2.
This one time I’m working, I look outside and Alan Boy was there...all dressed in white, head to toe.
White shirt, shorts, socks, shoes...he came strutting into the store with this grin from ear to ear...”Hi Aunty” he says,” How you doing?” Okay now I know somethings up, lol.
He says “Guess what?” I said “what” He says, “my dad is out“...I say, “no Way” and he says “yeah, he is here, walking around the mall right now”...he said “come, we go, sit down and wait for him...as I’m talking to Alan boy I look up and Al is standing on the upper level looking down at us with that same grin...that was a good day...
Fast forward..I’m sitting at home and the phone rings “Hello?” “Hello, you have a collect call from Blah blah blah, will you accept the call?” Automatic, I thinking it’s Chivalry and I hear “Hi my aunty, this is Alan Boy”he tells me “I messed up aunty and I stay in jail” “Yes, obviously”, was my response. “Aunty, you can do me a favor” “Automatic” I say...
After that call, I got to see you a few more times with your boys Maui and Kona and then we lost touch again..
One more Fast forward and here we are at the end...
I will miss the random checkins that life would grant us sometimes.
I will miss your voice and when you would say “Hi Aunty” after not seeing me in awhile...
but most of all, I’m going to miss... your doggone kolohe smile...
Rest In Love Alan Boy
I Love you Alwayz,
Your Aunty
