Walter ”Hale” DelaCruz Sr, 86, of Kahului, passed away on June 10th at Maui Memorial Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in Hana, Maui on April 12, 1936 to the Late Elizabeth (Hoopii) Lazaro and raised by David and Josephine (Hoopii) DelaCruz.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Nancy, sons Walter Hale Jr. (Rose) DelaCruz of Makawao, Robert (Lynn) DelaCruz of Wailuku, Glenn (Sharon) DelaCruz of Las Vegas, the late Michael Dean (Ardella) Kahula, daughters Deborah (the late Ainsworth) Shimatsu of Kauai, the late Rowena (Kim) Stone of Washington, Shana (Rod) Orquia of Kahului, and Stacie Porter of California. Walter has 23 grand children and 32 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Alberto (the late Caroline) Hoopii, Anthony (Hilda) Lazaro, two sisters Mercedes Lazaro and Barbara (the late Herbert) Frasco all of who reside on the island of Kauai and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased brothers Damiano Lazaro, Patrick Lazaro, Andrew Lazaro and sister Peggy Wisneski.
Walter was loved by many and was a dedicated husband, dad, brother, uncle, and friend who always loved spending time with his family and friends. Retiring after 39 years from Hawaiian Airlines he loved to be on the course playing golf or on the field playing in senior softball leagues and tournaments. Walter had a passion for cooking and you could almost always find him in the kitchen at all the family gatherings. He loved music and his all time favorite artist was “Engelbert Humperdinck”.
Walter “Hale” DelaCruz will be missed by all who knew him.

Celebration of life will be held at Norman's Mortuary on Friday July 15, 2022. Public viewing at 9:00am with service to follow at 11:00am.
