Ramona Brown

June 5, 1929 – April 12,2020

Ramona “Mona” Brown passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Hospice Maui Hale. She was 90 years of age.
She was born on June 5, 1929 to Nancy Keualani and Kenichi Maeda. She married James Nicholas Brown and together raised three sons, James ‘Jimmy’ (Twyllah) Brown, Clement (Virginia) Brown and Patrick Brown.
Ramona is preceded in death by her husband James N. Brown and oldest son James ‘Jimmy’ Brown.
She is survived by her brother Clement (Helen) Maeda of Kihei, sons Clement and Patrick, her granddaughters, Nichole (Rich) Barcus, Noelani (Alan Kennedy) Brown, her great grandchildren, Alexia Barcus, Richard Barcus III, Jackson Barcus, Kayla Kennedy and Taylor Kennedy. As well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
In her earlier years she worked picking pineapple at Maui Pine, as a CNA at Hale Makua and custodian for the County of Maui at Eddie Tam Memorial Center.
She loved working in her yard, caring for her plants and flowers as well as crocheting leis of unique designs. She also enjoyed playing Wheel of Fortune during her Las Vegas visits, watching shows such as “America Says”, “Family Feud” and beating her family at rummy. Mona was loved more than words can express.
A private viewing will be held at Norman’s Mortuary on April 24th with a burial service immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Makawao at 12:00 p.m.
A celebration of life will be planned for some time in the future.
Ramona’s family would like to thank Hospice Maui Hale for the care of their Mom during this time.
