Obituary for Nemesia Cabanting "Isyang" Cabanilla (Caberto)

Kahului, Maui, Hawaii- Beloved Nemesia ‘Isyang’ Cabanting Caberto Cabanilla, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022, at the age of 104, in the home of her loving and beautiful daughter Elisa Cabanilla Almiron.

Nemesia, affectionately, known as “Inang” to all her family and loved ones was born on December 19, 1918 in Sucoc, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She shouldered the welfare of her family while her beloved husband Severo came to Hawaii in 1946. She was loving and faithful to her husband; caring, nurturing, and generous to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, she loved the Lord. She loved going to Church while she was still able to walk. She loved to cook for her family and loved ones. When she was asked about her secret to “Long Life,” she answered unhesitatingly, “pray, walk, eat vegetables.”

While Nemesia’s primary focus was to take care her family, she also worked at Home Maid Bakery. She worked there for many years until she retired from the same work place,

Nemesia was predeceased by her siblings, Segunda (Ondang), Maxima (Simang), Antonia (Toning), Silverio and Jose; daughter, Teresita Cabanilla Cabico; husband, Severo Rebellion Cabanilla, died on June 7, 1995 ; son, Rogelio Cabanilla, died on March 10, 2010; granddaughter. Caroline Cabanilla Guzman, died on October 13, 2016.

She is survived by her children, Pastor Antonio (Loida) Cabanilla, Vicente (Criselda) Cabanilla, Elisa (Sergio) Almiron, Rodolfo (Roberta) Cabanilla; 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.

Nemesia’s family is extending their gratitude to her primary physician, Dr. Meagan Wright of Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Noel Termulo and team of Hospice Maui and special mention to her daughter Ely Cabanilla Almiron and family for their love and care to Inang Nemesia for the last 17 years! We really appreciate all of you!

Without a doubt, Inang Nemesia lived a very fruitful, good and long life. She will be dearly and certainly missed and always be cherished and treasured forever. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.- Proverbs 116:15

Throughout her life, Inang Nemesia was a faithful wife, a good mother, a beautiful person.
