Obituary for Michael Joseph Jonasson

Michael Joseph Jonasson, known to most as “Jono”, of Kihei, Maui, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at his home at the age of 54 after an extended illness. He was born on February 9, 1968 in San Francisco, Calif.
Jono was a 1986 graduate of Lynbrook High School in San Jose, Calif. where he played trumpet in the high school marching band and performed at the 1985 Super Bowl XIX at Stanford Stadium. He attended Sonoma State University where he studied laser technology. He was an avid golfer, loved soccer and the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. Jono moved to Maui in the mid 1990’s where he helped open a number of restaurants and was manager at Marco’s Grill & Deli in Kahului before getting into construction. Like his father and grandfather, he was an excellent carpenter. Jono was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by many.
Jono is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Bette) Jonasson of Kihei, Maui;, father, Robert (RoseMarie) Jonasson of Chico, CA; brother, Timothy (Lori) Jonasson of La Quinta, CA; step-brother, Chris (Camille) Dodge of Louisville, KY and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents and his beloved dog Ike.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
