Jeffrey Mark Babila Bio, Wailuku

Jeffrey “Jeff” Bio, 57 years old, passed away on June 30, 2020 at Straub Medical Center, from complications with angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. He was born in Wailuku on November 8, 1962 to the late Fernando Bio and Margarita Babila Bio.

Jeff was a loving and supportive husband and a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Bio, daughter Destinee Pakani (Jake), daughter Ellissa Bio, son Deven Bio, brothers Roger (Connie), Romeo (Linda) and Nestor (Debbie) Bio, five grandchildren Brennon, Thomas, Joseph, Jacob, Dejalei Pakani, and seven nieces and nephews.

Family. Friends. Music. Softball.

Jeff loved to spend time with family and friends, often hosting parties and bbqs. From high school, Jeff was an avid musician and played in multiple bands. He sang lead and back-up vocals and played drums and percussions. Jeff played softball in several different leagues and made many good friends at the ballpark. He was a well-respected hard worker, employed with Youngs Market as a liquor sales representative for 26 years. He was casual, easy-going, and over the years, had built good working relationships with many of his co-workers and clients.

The Bio ohana would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Maui Medical Group, Maui Memorial, MD Anderson in Texas, and Straub Medical Center in Honolulu, for their compassionate care. It was a short but fierce battle, and with their help, Jeff fought hard all the way. We will always be grateful.

Jeff is often described as “one of the greats.” He was loved and admired by all those that knew him and he will be truly missed. Services will be held at Borthwick Norman’s Mortuary and scattering of ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating on Jeff’s behalf to one of the following organizations. We will be forever grateful to these organizations for the expert care and support they provided our ohana.

-MD Anderson Cancer Center to fund sarcoma and other cancer research:

-A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF) to fund housing for cancer patients and families near MD Anderson, Houston:

To Cathy, Nestor, and Family,
Our deepest condolences in the loss of Jeff. Please have comfort that he is in a better place free of pain and suffering. I have fond memories of our Hanabata days growing up on Kaiemi Street playing on the street in front of our houses. We can’t make it to tomorrow’s service so I wanted to send you this note that our thoughts are with you. Per your wishes, we will make a contribution in Jeff’s name to one of the charities you have chosen.

Love and Aloha,
Mark and Shann Kubota

Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Jeff.
I worked with Jeff for 3 plus years at Young's Market Company of Hawaii. He is a respectful, friendly, hardworking and positive thinker. He is very passionate of what he do at work and in life. He always taught me to face the challenges in life to be a better person. He is kind of person that will tell you stories to be thankful in life and always taught me not to pay attention to those who criticize you and again use this to be a better person. During this short time we work together, We shared a lot of stories, shared jokes, shared smiles and laughter.
Jeff you will always be remembered and I miss you my brother.
