Obituary for Handie K Ah Puck

Handie K. Ah Puck, 73, of Makawao, passed away in his home on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was born on September 21, 1949 in Waipio Valley, on the Big Island, to the Late Joseph and Virgilia Ah Puck Sr.

He is survived by his ‘Ohana: His wife, Christine Eiko Ah Puck; Son Frank aka “Frankie Boy” (Sherri) Ah Puck; Daughter Kelliann aka “Bebe” (Justin) Lenchanko, and Hanai son Royden Kahai (Candid) Sato. His Grandchildren: Elikapeka, Zadyn, Lyric-Ann, Mystic-Ann, E'ekuahiwi, Enoka, Elianna, Elina, Ellie-Mae, ‘Eleu, Kaysha-Ann, Royden aka “Bulla”, Lakeisha, and Calvin. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, ✝Joseph (Lizzie) Ah Puck Jr., ✝Clarence (Carol) Ah Puck Sr., ✝Gertrude (Alfred) Lorenzo, Pansy (✝Raymond) Kawabata, ✝Hardy (Leona) Ah Puck Sr., Clinton Ah Puck, Priscilla Iwalani Ah Puck, Gail (Edmund) Pali, and Donna (✝Roy) Asia. Along with many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews.

44 years ago, on July 15, 1978, at Maria Lanakila Church in Lahaina, Maui, Handie married the love of his life, Christine K.E. Ah Puck, and the rest is history.

Handie’s motto “if you can help, help; if you can’t, there is always next time”. Handie was a hard worker driving to Kaanapali from Makawao for 40+ years! He retired as an “Irrigation Specialist 1” at Kaanapali Golf Course. Handie loved to fish and cook. You could always find Handie in his kitchen cooking for his family all the grinds from Hawaiian food to Filipino food too. Handie catered a lot of parties over these many years for his family and friends. Handie always made sure everyone was welcomed in his home no matter your situation he made sure to feed you, you had a place to sleep and call home. Handie was an all-around guy, quiet and humble but was always there when you needed him! Handie is FOREVER loved and will truly be MISSED by so many!

We the ‘Ohana of late Handie K. Ah Puck would like to give special MAHALO to Captain Saribay and crew from MFD, Maui Paramedics, Detective’s Kamuela Mawae and Brian Manlapao, his many doctors and nurses at Kaiser, and to Mapu, Aloha & The Staff of Norman's Mortuary. Also, MAHALO to all of you for loving our Dad. He definitely paid it forward and paved the way for all of us!

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku, Maui. Public visitation will begin at 9am till 3pm. All is welcomed to join the family at the Ah Puck Hale in Makawao after the service.
