Obituary for Daniel Edward Cortez
Daniel Edward Cortez 66 of Kula, Maui passed away at his home on January 27, 2021. He was born on February 17, 1954 in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii to Pedro and Dolinda Cortez.
Daniel was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He retired from a life-long career in the construction industry and worked as a very skilled carpenter. He helped many family and friends build their dream homes. He was never too tired or busy to help anyone in need. Daniel loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping.
Visitation will be held at Norman’s Mortuary on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with private services to follow. Due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, we advise for those in attendance to wear masks and apply social distancing.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife Terry Cortez and beloved daughter Danzelle Cortez; mother – Dolinda Cortez; siblings - Alvin (Stephanie) Cortez, Robin (Joni DeMello) Cortez, Leilani Cortez, Glen Cortez, Alisa Cortez and Gil Cortez; nieces, grandnephew and grandniece.
He was predeceased by his father Pedro Cortez.
The Cortez family would like to acknowledge and thank Colleen and Mitsue from Hospice Maui for their compassion and care, Meals on Wheels; and those who kept Daniel and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
